Advantages and benefits of Memberships
The advantages and benefits of membership to the private nurse practitioners society are:

Representation with statutory bodies with respect to recognition of private nursing services and suggested fee structure for services;

Marketing of members’ services in the appropriate available media, as well as with relevant healthcare organisations;

Local and national referrals, networking amongst fellow practitioners;

Peer support and development of practice standards for Members;

A source of information by experienced practitioners and mentoring fellow members;

Acting as a “stronger voice” for Private Nurse Practitioners;

Continuing education and updating with respect to the latest nursing techniques;
Membership Categories and fees
Membership is open to Registered Professional Nurses on application in accordance with the by-laws,

Full membership: self-employed professional nurse practicing as a Private Nurse Practitioner, registered with the SA Nursing Council, and is in possession of a practice number allocated by an accredited organisation.

Group practice membership: Private Nurse Practitioners who practice in association or partnership with one another, or a Nursing Agency or organisation who employ three (3) or more professional nurses, where professional nurses do not hold individual membership of the Society.

Associate membership: any registered nurse currently registered with the South African Nursing Council, who does not qualify for a practice number allocated by an accredited organisation or has retired from practice. Associate membership is also open to Registered Professional Nurses from neighbouring countries.

Corporate membership: National or international organisation or corporate organisation pursuing the same or related objectives as the Society. A Corporate member with five staff members or less qualifies to be deemed a Micro-corporate whereby a reduced membership fee will apply.

Honorary membership may be awarded to any person who has rendered distinctive services or who has promoted the objectives of the Society in a particular manner

Corporate Membership Application & Renewal
The Society of Private Nurse Practitioners of South Africa is a registered NGO representing Professional Nurses in private practice, with members throughout the country. In addition to offering a platform for
networking and ongoing education, the Society focuses on regulatory requirements affecting practitioners and their clients.
Corporate membership is open to organisations or companies in the healthcare industry as well as companies providing business & administrative services to members. Corporates with a total of 5 staff
members or less qualify for a reduced membership fee as a Micro-corporate.
Please note that the fee for 2026 has not been increased as we encourage our members to participate in the upcoming Biennial General Meeting & Conference.
As a corporate member the organisation will have access to:

Access to a current national membership list and the membership network via the SPNP website

Marketing on the SPNP website (Logo with link to corporate website, events page, newsletter page)

Corporate trade partner WhatsApp group & meeting calendar

Participation in all Branch Meetings and Workshops *.
*Depending on whether the company wishes to present or sponsor the main speaker / topic, branches may request additional sponsorship. Corporate members qualify for a substantial reduction or free participation. The organisation is requested to nominate two representatives as contacts for each branch. Two representatives may attend branch meetings and workshops and will be given an opportunity to introduce themselves and the company at each meeting. Extended presentation options are available. These fees remain in the Branch to further enhance the branch offerings. As a corporate member you are requested to provide the name and email address of one senior staff member as the authorised representative for the organisation, who will also be given access to the SPNP member page on the website. Access to members’ contact details is granted for local use only, on the understanding that these will not be distributed to third parties for inclusion in marketing databases.
The only membership right which has restrictions relates to voting rights.
